Stories from Mexico

In March and April Discovery helped send 9 lucky participants to Ejido Benito Juarez Leyes de Reforma to learn about food production and Fair Trade in Mexico.

It was an unique experience for each person that participated - all having something interesting to share about the 2 weeks that they spent farming in the desert and learning about life in Mexico. Although everyone had a different experience, the Ejido participants all came back with a renewed perspective on where our food comes from and the importance of fair international trade. Judging from the photos below, it looks like they all had a great time!

You can read about their experiences on the posts that Tammy, Bryce, Colleen, Jamie, and Andrew wrote for our blog. However, there is only so much that you can share about an experience like this in a blog post - so what better way to share this type of experience than holding a Meetup event!? Meetup is an online network that makes it easy for anyone to organize a local group or event.

Fair Trade Vancouver is organizing an event through Meetup to allow Natasha, Bryce, and Andrew to share their experience with you in person! The event will be Wednesday, June 13th, at 6:00 pm at Yagger's Bar (433 West Pender). You can learn more about the event or RSVP by clicking on this link: http://www.meetup.com/FairTradeVancouver/events/67323002/

Fair Trade Vancouver is a non-profit organization that works with a committed group of  volunteers to increase awareness, availability, and sales of Fair Trade products in Metro Vancouver. For more information about Fair Trade in Vancouver check out their website: www.fairtradevancouver.ca

See you all there!
