MARKET REPORT – JUNE 23RD, 2017

Think hot! Not just here – but all across the country and the U.S.  The pink on the west and southwest of today’s map is severe weather warnings for excessive heat – ranging from the mid-30’s for Seattle to the high 40’s (and low 50’s) across the deserts all the way to Texas.  (The reds and greens in the East are tornados and floods in case you were wondering.)  At the same time we have forecast highs in the high 20’s to mid 30’s for pretty much all of our service areas in B.C. through to the mid-Prairies.

HOT SHOTS – APR. 10TH, 2016

Dear Ones,

This week I’m trying a new thing which is contracting out my photos.  Jon is going to be doing the photos part of things, and I think this is a really great move on my part, because he did a really good job, especially the photos of artichokes!  So these photos are brought to you by our Jon.  Some neat things about Jon: he is a world class gamer and while I like to make fun of him for this, I am learning that he’s pretty legit in this world that I don’t really understand because I am old and boring and only like books.  Jon also loves books, and his little cat named Garbey, and only one person on this whole planet: his grandmother.  Jon’s favourite colour is black and he jokes that he doesn’t like the sun, but he does, I just know it.  He is deeply kind and very funny and we just love our Jon Jon Jon.

HOT SHOTS – MAR. 20TH, 2016

Dear Ones,

When I first moved to Nelson, I did it for “love” but it only lasted 22 days after which I found myself without my lil East Van apartment, without a job, and quite frankly, in what appeared to be the middle of nowhere, and I didn’t know anyone.  I made a friend called Tory and she took me blueberry picking.  I piled into a beat up vehicle with three young beautiful Kootenay women who also happened to be single moms and picked blueberries in Thrums.  After 5 hours I had made $27.  Tory had made $90.  I could see why she did it, wasn’t sure why I should.

HOT SHOTS – FEB. 7TH, 2016

Dear Ones,

Today in the office Jackie and I were talking about our first little while at Discovery Organics, respectively.  Discovery is a very busy little Mom and Pop that is doing a cool thing which is growing like crazy while somehow maintaining amazing grassroots values.  Some of us who have been here awhile can remember ways of doing things that can only be described as “creatively practical,” and the “practical” might be a bit generous.
