MARKET REPORT – NOV. 28TH, 2018

A LITTLE MID-WEEK NEWS UPDATE

ROMAINE

Romaine Warning Cancelled. Nearly. Health officials have determined that all cases of E.Coli likely came from Romaine lettuce harvested in Coastal California growing regions.  No other region of California was producing and shipping Romaine at the time.  All warnings have ended for Romaine grown in Imperial, Coachella, San Joaquin, Yuma, Mexico, and greenhouse / living lettuce.  Warnings continue for Romaine shipping from Salinas.  Most shippers operating in Salinas have packed up shop for the winter anyhow and those with crop in the field aren’t packing or shipping, just tilling I’d imagine.

MARKET REPORT – OCT. 28TH, 2016

 A little short one today

The transition south from BC has begun, as has the transition from coastal to desert California.  We have no indication of any major hiccup, just choppiness predicted on the conventional side.  Weather is always the determining factor.  Mexican operations are opening up their entire selection this week and next, with a full array of tomatoes, cukes, melons, zucchini etc.  Prices are seasonal and stable.

MARKET REPORT – MAY 27TH, 2016

Here is your run-down for next week.

Apples:  The market continues to consume apples at an incredible rate, keeping prices high on all S. American fruit, with increases this week on Fuji ahead of an expected gap from several shippers on Gala.  On the upside, we’re 6 weeks from B.C. early dessert apples if that’s any condolence.
