Hotshots-29 December 2014
Hi Dear Ones!
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends and for some if not all, still enjoying the holidays. Here is the view I took in on Christmas day with my family from a local spot on the North Shore.
Now let’s check out what I found in the coolers yesterday!
Blackberries – HBF Mexico, Strawberries – WELL PICT Mexico, Blueberries – INTERRUPCION F.T. Chile, Raspberries – DRISCOLL California
Great deal on berries!!! We have all sorts of fresh berries in stock including cranberries that are not pictured. They all taste amaaaaazing! Full of antioxidants, low in calories, great snack, and just plain yummy!
Green Mizuna bunch 24 CT – SOMETHING GOOD California
This green is super tasty and holds up quite well in the cooler. It is a type of mustard green that is bitter and great to eat raw. We do not have many cases but I thought I would share this cool green with you!
Recipe ideas: I like to use it as a herb chopped up roughly and tossed with potatoes, olive oil, and salt. Also, makes a great addition to salads and sandwiches!
Tomato on the Vine Cluster Fancy – DIVINE FLAVOR Mexico
These Mexican TOV’s are so beautiful I thought I would showcase them since Origino (one of our local suppliers) is finished for the season.
Shishito Peppers 10# – DEL CABO Mexico
This is a type of sweet pepper grown in Japan. As you can see, they look pretty harmless right?! Turns out that only about one in ten of these peppers is spicy! 😉
Bunch Carrot 24 CT – SOMETHING GOOD California
Tyler, our banana side-kick/picker, was kind enough to assist in a little carrot photo shoot yesterday. Thanks Tyler!
Fairtrade Field Fancy 36/42 CT – HEAVEN’S BEST Mexico
These field cukes are perfect for juicing! 2015 is just around the corner and these would make a great addition to any juice cleanse program. Come get em while they last!
Health facts of cucumber juice: alkaline forming in the body, helps regulate blood pressure, connective tissue building, diuretic (removes waste through urination), anti-inflammatory, helps with multiple skin conditions (eczema, psoriasis, acne).
Tangelo Minneola 125 CT – RUCKER California
These little bell-shaped suckers are a cross between a grapefruit and a tangerine. I tasted them yesterday and they are simply delicious! They have a juicy, mild-tart, sweet flavor. I love them and they peel very easily. Highly recommend!
Health benefits: good source of vitamin C and flavonoids, high in fiber which aids in weight-loss, helps prevent against the common cold and throat infections, good for treating urinary tract infections, helps prevent damage caused by free radicals.
Baby Bok Choy – SUE HEGER California
These lush baby Bok Choy are one of the most beautiful I’ve seen!
Cool fact* the Chinese have been cultivating the vegetable for more than 5000 years! Although it is still grown in China it is now also harvested in California and commonly grown in Alberta, Canada.
Wishing you all a very happy New Year for 2015! “Every time you tear a leaf off a calendar, you present a new place for new ideas and progress.” – Charles Kettering.
